Spirometry: Technique

Spirometry is used to test lung function. The person breathes normally, then quickly inhales deeply through a mouthpiece with attached tubing. He next exhales quickly until he has emptied his lungs as much as possible. These breaths are measured and recorded by the spirometer (on the desk).
