Bronchoscopy: Visualization of the Airways
Bronchoscopy is used to visualize the airways. The trachea, with its rings of cartilage, can be seen. In this person, the trachea opens and closes during breathing—a sign of weakened airway tissue. At the lower end of the trachea, the openings (bronchi) for the right and left lung can be seen briefly.
