Biotin is a vitamin that helps the body turn fats and carbohydrates into energy. Adequate intake for adults is usually easy to get from food.
Pantothenic acid (also known as vitamin B7) is found in many foods and helps the body make and use energy. Although pantothenic acid may be helpful in lowering cholesterol and treating rheumatoid arthritis, these benefits have not been clearly proven.
True deficiencies of biotin or pantothenic acid are extremely rare.
