Leukoplakia and Squamous Cell Carcinoma

    Leukoplakia is a general term for white spots that develop in the mouth. Most of the spots are noncancerous. However, in this photo, squamous cell carcinoma (indicated by arrow) is present in one of the spots on the underside of the tongue.
